There has been a lot of controversy over gambling enthusiasts being able to enjoy their games online in the United States. There have been some changes to the laws in the last few years but this has not cleared up the confusion that many gamblers still face. There are some states where it is now considered legal to play online.
States Where it is Allowed
Several states are now allowing online sports betting and casino gameplay.
New Jersey
There have been in excess of a dozen online casino sites along with poker rooms that are now licensed as legal online casino entities. The type of play that is allowed in this state is online sports betting, online casino, and online poker.
Pennsylvania
In 2019 Pennsylvania also allowed some forms of online gambling. In May 2019 they improved online sports betting. Then in June, there is a collection of casinos that have been licensed to operate for Pennsylvania residents. Finally, in November 2019 poker was also added to the list of legal online gameplay.
West Virginia
In 2018 West Virginia came to the decision that they would allow an extension of online gambling. They currently have sports betting apps but they set a target for 2020 to allow legalized casinos and legalized online poker entities. This is being done through the enactment of the Lottery Interactive Wagering Act applicable to West Virginia. There is still a lot to be settled before this is finalized.
Indiana and Iowa
Both of these states have approved online sports betting in 2019 to date, however, there are no plans for them to allow legal gameplay for online casinos or online poker.
Nevada
Nevada is well known for its gambling environment. They go all the way back to 2010 for allowing sports betting to take place online. Then in 2013, they approved online poker. To date, however, they have not as yet approved plans for online casinos.
